The last objective of the Avatar cancer program is to adjust the patient's physiologic status to a healthy state. Our goal is to prevent a reoccurrence. This same program can be applied as a general preventive. The first step is to detoxify the body from heavy metals, aromatic hydrocarbons and other free radical catalysts. It is imperative to control free radicals in order to maintain a healthy body. The detoxification program is complimented with a strong dose of anti-oxidants to control oxidative stress at the mitochondrial level and to aid in the rebuilding of intracellular glutathione. The glutathione transports toxic waste out of the cells and into the body's elimination system, while the anti-oxidants neutralize free radicals as they are produced. Avatar places the focus on the mitochondria because this is the source of energy production in a healthy cell. Avatar considers the preservation of life to be essentially a matter of proper energy metabolism.
